Chapter 11: Clinging to Gu Yan for a Whole Month ×

Shen Jinnian was forced to spend a night with his own smelly clothes, and he didn't sleep well at all.

Early next morning.

While the baby was still asleep, he carefully pulled the crumpled shirt from the child's arms, pinched his nose, and tossed it into the washing machine.

Only after the strange smell in the bedroom completely disappeared did Shen Jinnian finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Just then, his phone rang with a call from an unknown number.

"Hello, Mr. Shen. I'm Xiao Liu from Changfeng. You scheduled a pickup for 8 a.m. today."

In that instant, Shen Jinnian suddenly remembered—he had scheduled a DNA test pickup yesterday but had been so busy taking care of the baby that he forgot to collect the samples.

"Give me a moment, I'll be right there," Shen Jinnian said as he hurried toward the nursery.

Since the baby was still asleep, he sneakily crouched by the bed, grabbed two strands of hair between his nails, clenched his teeth, and yanked them out along with the hair follicles!

[T/N: Ouch that hurts. Imagine someone pulling your hair out while you’re sleeping.]

The sharp sting startled the baby awake. In his groggy state, he realized that Shen Jinnian was no longer beside him—and worse, his beloved shirt was gone.

His eyes instantly turned red, and he burst into tears. Big, round tears rolled down his cheeks, one after another.

Shen Jinnian's ears hurt from the wailing. He quickly secured the hair samples, grabbed a pre-warmed milk bottle from the bedside warmer, and stuffed it into the baby’s mouth.

The rich scent of milk immediately distracted the little one.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Shen Jinnian casually plucked two strands of his own hair, packed the samples, and handed them over to the courier.

By the time he returned to the nursery, the baby had already tossed the bottle aside. He had rolled onto his stomach, covering his mouth with his hands, sobbing softly.

Shen Jinnian picked him up. "You drank your milk, so why are you still crying?"

The baby sniffled and his red nose scrunched up as he searched around for his missing shirt.

As he noticed his panicked little eyes darting around, Shen Jinnian sighed, sat down on the bed, and handed him the bottle again. He came clean. "Don't bother looking. I washed that stinky thing."

The baby collapsed instantly and tears poured down from his like a broken string of pearls. "PaPa..."

Shen Jinnian grabbed the shirt he had worn yesterday—still unwashed—and stuffed it into the baby's arms. "Here, sniff this. It's fresh."

The baby threw away his clothes without hesitation, still aggrieved: "PaPa..."

Shen Jinnian: "..."

Now he’s picky? Who was the one clinging to him and following him home in the first place?

Shen Jinnian sighed and decisively changed a piece of clothes for the kid, but the result was exactly the same.

The baby only wanted that particular shirt—the one that hadn't been washed in three days and was practically fermenting.

What the hell?

What was so special about that shirt?

Shen Jinnian jostled the baby in his arms, deep in thought, before finally coming to a realization—

It had been washed using Gu Yan’s detergent.

But that detergent had no brand or label. It was probably some unregistered product Gu Yan picked up from a street vendor. There was no way to buy the same one online.

After some careful consideration, a shameless plan took shape in Shen Jinnian’s mind.

His gaze darkened as he looked at the baby. "You still want to sniff that shirt?"

The sobbing baby was startled: "Hiccup~"

Shen Jinnian: "I’ll get it back for you, but the condition is—you’re not allowed to cry for the whole day."

The baby seemed to understand and quickly wiped away his tears: "wuya~"

Agreement reached.

He quickly finished breakfast for both of them, then grabbed the largest backpack from his closet and stuffed the baby inside, and swaggered into the school.

He went straight to Chen Han’s single dorm room.

Chen Han, who was still immersed in a beautiful dream, was startled by the sudden appearance of the little cub. After coming to his senses, he clutched his chest and his voice trembled with fear. "Are you insane? You brought him to school?!"

If anyone found out that Shen Jinnian, a young and dashing Alpha, had brought a baby with him to campus, it would be an absolute disaster! This kind of news could easily keep Shen Jinnian’s name trending on the school’s forums for three whole months.

"I have something to take care of," Shen Jinnian said while stuffing the baby into Chen Han's arms. "You don’t have any classes this morning, so watch him for me."

"You don’t have any classes either," Chen Han pointed out, looking completely baffled as he was forced to accept the baby.

"I have something urgent to do," Shen Jinnian dismissed him with a vague excuse and shoved all the baby formula and diapers into Chen Han's hands. "I'll treat you to a meal later."

Before Chen Han could protest, Shen Jinnian had already turned and walked away without a moment's hesitation.

Left behind, Chen Han and the baby stared at each other in confusion.

Shen Jinnian bought a cup of coffee in fifteen minutes and checked Gu Yan's schedule.

He rushed into the classroom on time for class.

The students in the room were stunned for a moment after seeing Shen Jinnian, and then looked in the direction of Gu Yan tacitly, and the bustling classroom became quiet instantly.

Everyone knew that Shen Jinnian and Gu Yan couldn’t stand each other. Whenever Gu Yan appeared within ten miles of him, this young master would definitely use a combination of sneers, sneers, and contempt.

Like a newborn kitten stretching out its soft little paws, making a fuss as if it were the fiercest predator alive, only to clumsily stumble and land in a warm puddle of milk.

But today…

No one could have predicted what happened next.

Shen Jinnian barely spared the class a glance before swaggering straight toward Gu Yan, settling into the seat beside him with his coffee in hand.

Gu Yan caught a whiff of a familiar pheromone in the air.

The moment he turned his head, his shoulder accidentally brushed against Shen Jinnian’s arm—In a flash, the cup that he was holding tilted 90 degrees, and the whole cup of steaming drink was spilled all over Shen Jinnian's white shirt.

Shen Jinnian stood up quickly and wrung out the coffee liquid on his clothes, but the clean white shirt inevitably left a deep stain.

"Gu Yan!" Shen Jinnian gasped in shock and said. "That was way out of line!"

Gu Yan, who had barely touched him: "…"

Shen Jinnian swept his gaze around the room, ensuring that everyone had seen what happened. Then, with a self-righteous air, he declared, "You knocked over my coffee and ruined my shirt! Everyone here saw it!"

Gu Yan looked at Shen Jinnian's poor acting skills and cooperated with him: "I'll compensate you with a new one."

Shen Jinnian blinked. "So generous. Do you even have the money for that?"

Gu Yan replied calmly, "Yes, I’m earning."

"This shirt alone costs more than your semester’s living expenses." Shen Jinnian sighed, looking as though he was being unreasonably kind. "I’m a good person—I won’t make things difficult for you. Just do my laundry for a month, and we’ll call it even."

Gu Yan narrowed his eyes.

This wasn’t even Shen Jinnian’s class. He had gone out of his way to show up here, spill coffee on himself, and put on this whole act of being benevolent?

Something was up.

But before he could think too much about it, Shen Jinnian urged him impatiently. "Gu Yan, don’t tell me you’re that stingy?"

Gu Yan came back to his senses, and his deep eyes reflected the small figure of Shen Jinnian. He answered candidly, "It was my mistake. I’ll wash it."

Shen Jinnian immediately let out a breath of relief, as if he had finally achieved his goal.

He pulled Gu Yan's sleeve without hesitation, and dragged him out of the classroom with an impatient look.

He urged in a low voice: "Come on, we’re washing it at your place."

Gu Yan: "…My place?"

The second he spoke, the two of them vanished down the hallway.

Back in the lecture hall, the remaining students exchanged looks.

It was clear—tonight’s fandom community was going to have some prime material to work with.
