Chapter 21 SJC
This sentence shocked Gu Yan no less than if Shen Jinnian had confessed—
Yes, we have a child.
So much so that, for a moment, he didn’t know how to respond, or in what tone he should speak to the person in his arms.
Shen Jinnian, hearing no reply, grew even more aggrieved.
He buried his entire head into Gu Yan’s chest, secretly rubbing away the tears at the corners of his eyes.
“...I want to see Gu Yan.”
“You can’t look for Gu Yan.”
The man lowered his head, his gaze landing on the flushed tips of Shen Jinnian’s ears.
“If you see Gu Yan after you wake up, you’ll be angry.”
Shen Jinnian frowned and lifted his head immediately.
His eyes were filled with a tears as he stared intently at Gu Yan, like he was trying to make out exactly who kept denying him again and again.
But the drugs were still strong. Even when he focused hard, he could only make out a few blurry outlines.
He instantly deflated. Tugging at Gu Yan’s collar, his voice softened like he was trying to coax him.
“...I won’t be angry. I really won’t. Just take me to Gu Yan, okay?”
Gu Yan’s heart started to soften under the pitiful pleading.
He first carried Shen Jinnian into the car, carefully settled him into the back seat, held him close, and gently released a bit of calming pheromones.
“Feeling any better?”
“No.”
Shen Jinnian clung to Gu Yan’s neck, refusing to let go. He shook his head while lying in Gu Yan’s arms.
“...I still want more.”
Gu Yan’s gaze flickered, and he quickly told the driver to get out.
He held Shen Jinnian and released more pheromones, helping him ease the heat in his body.
“Mm…”
“Ha…”
Shen Jinnian took deep breaths of the pheromone-filled air. His chest, exposed beneath loose clothing, rose and fell sharply and a hazy flush spread across his skin.
Gu Yan’s eyes turned red and his ears grew hot, his young body was instinctively stirred by the other.
He simply closed his eyes and continued releasing Alpha pheromones nonstop.
The person in his arms breathed heavily, and due to the drug’s effect, let out short, low pants from time to time.
In the pin-drop silence of the car, it was especially clear.
Gu Yan couldn’t do anything, didn’t dare to do anything.
He held the burning-hot Shen Jinnian tightly in his arms, frozen in place, not knowing what to do.
“Not enough…”
“Your pheromones… it’s not enough... mm…”
The pheromones in the car were getting thinner and thinner, but the heat inside Shen Jinnian’s body only grew stronger.
It was as if he had fallen into a whirlpool, endlessly struggling and begging for Gu Yan’s pity and relief.
Just as Gu Yan thought to release a bit more, Shen Jinnian couldn’t wait any longer.
He pushed his sore, weak body up from Gu Yan’s embrace, straddled his legs, wrapped his arms around Gu Yan’s shoulders, and actively searched for the man’s nape.
That was where an Alpha’s gland was—the cedar scent was strongest there.
Shen Jinnian finally latched onto a lifeline. He opened his mouth and bit down on the other’s skin, eagerly drawing in the man’s clear and gentle pheromones.
“So good…”
“Just a little more... please…”
Gu Yan suddenly felt the scorching wet touch—again and again—licking and pressing against his skin without restraint.
He instantly froze in place.
The wildfire finally lit this swaying grass.
Gu Yan was pulled into Shen Jinnian’s emotions, his breathing growing heavier and hotter.
He gripped Shen Jinnian’s shoulders tightly and forced a bit of distance between them.
“Jinnian, wait… just wait a second…”
“No waiting.”
“I don’t want to wait.”
After speaking, Shen Jinnian dove back into his arms, rubbing his cheek softly against the back of Gu Yan’s neck like a kitten.
Gu Yan once again pulled the clingy, strawberry-scented candy out of his embrace.
He gently pinched Shen Jinnian’s chin, turning his face up, and used a tissue to wipe away the tears in his eyes. He asked seriously,
“Do you know who I am?”
“…Huh?”
Shen Jinnian tilted his head, swaying a little as if he couldn’t keep it upright.
Gu Yan sighed and switched hands to hold his chin more firmly.
“I’m Gu Yan.”
Shen Jinnian’s cheeks were flushed, and his lips—red and glistening from being bitten—parted slightly as he stared at Gu Yan with dazed eyes. He repeated slowly,
“Gu… Yan.”
Like a clueless little fool.
Gu Yan felt a headache coming on. Shen Jinnian had clearly lost all sense of memory and reason.
He was like a blank sheet of paper—completely at his mercy.
Shen Jinnian followed his lead and gently cupped Gu Yan’s face in return.
“I know you’re Gu Yan… I remember your scent…”
Gu Yan froze.
“Our compatibility is really… really high…”
“I really like your scent…”
Gu Yan was caught off guard.
“How do you know our compatibility is high?”
Even the clear-headed Shen Jinnian probably didn’t know that.
Their pheromone compatibility exceeded 98%—a once-in-a-lifetime match.
“Because… your scent makes me feel safe…”
“I really like it… your pheromones…”
Shen Jinnian spoke with difficulty. Each few words left him panting. His loosened collar kept slipping downward, exposing more and more of his skin, until the whole shirt hung loosely off one arm.
Gu Yan tugged the fabric back up.
But Shen Jinnian, stubborn as ever, yanked it right back down with a small, annoyed huff.
Gu Yan had no choice but to take off his own jacket and drape it over him, shielding his bare skin.
The jacket carried Gu Yan’s scent, and this time, Shen Jinnian didn’t resist. He even wrapped himself obediently in the fabric, leaving only a fuzzy little head peeking out.
Gu Yan reached out and tousled his hair.
“Be good.”
“…Mhm.”
Taking advantage of this rare moment of quiet, Gu Yan told the driver to return, then rushed to the nearest hospital.
He held Shen Jinnian the entire way—through blood tests, waiting for the results, even during the examination.
From the way the doctor’s brows furrowed, Gu Yan could already guess the results weren’t good.
Sure enough, the doctor let out a long sigh before saying anything.
“The drug has triggered a heat-like state in his body. The hormone levels are high and dangerously unstable. Pheromones alone might not be enough to fix this.”
Gu Yan frowned
“What do you mean?”
The doctor took a sip of water before continuing.
“Just using pheromones won’t work. You’ll have to help him… physically release the excess heat.”
Gu Yan immediately understood the unspoken suggestion, and his arms instinctively tightened around Shen Jinnian.
His gaze wavered, his voice low and raspy.
“Just now, pheromones were still calming him down…”
“Look for yourself.” The doctor handed over the report. “His hormone levels haven’t dropped at all. Your scent might offer temporary relief, but it’s like painkillers—once the effect wears off, the pain will come back.”
Gu Yan went quiet for a moment before asking,
“Is there any medicine we can give him?”
“An Omega suppressant,” the doctor replied.
“But I can’t guarantee it’ll work on an Alpha.”
Gu Yan didn’t care about guarantees anymore.
Anything was better than watching him suffer like this.
“Give it to him.”
But the moment Shen Jinnian heard the word “injection,” he suddenly perked up.
His long lashes trembled and little droplets of tears clung to the tips like he’d been deeply wronged.
“…Don’t want it.”
Gu Yan coaxed,
“It’ll help. You’ll feel better.”
“…It hurts.” Shen Jinnian clutched Gu Yan’s hand tightly.
He guided Gu Yan’s hand to the small of his back, resting it against the sensitive dip of his spine, and whispered pleadingly,
“Gege… let’s go home… You give it to me yourself…”
